comics: the end of excuses not to be more visual

A style of linear content that involves, panels, pictures, and word balloons. Comics are often associated with [super heroes] or newspaper “funnies” such as [Dilbert] or [Doonsbury], although the genre has emerged to take on more weighty topics such as the Holocaust and [9/11].

Comics can be a Game Element if they are used to entertain and lower tension. Comics can also be pedagogical if they highlight key points that might be less clear in a photograph or even scientific illustration, such as on an airplane emergency card.

Reading this post I remembered that the game Max Payne injected cartoon sections to help move on the narrative. Not only stylish and in-keeping with the tone of the game, but a clever use of mixed media.

That was a great use. Interestingly, the comic sections used the style of a painted graphic novel, elevating the texture and perceived quality.
